Needlework Atelier Stacked

Needlework Atelier Stacked is a small Utrecht studio dedicated to hand embroidery for adults. We keep the tables clear, the floss sorted by tone, and the conversation low enough that you can hear the needle pass through linen. Whether you are returning to a childhood sampler or learning stem stitch for the first time, the atelier is built for unhurried practice rather than spectacle.

Our neighbourhood is the quiet bend of the Oudegracht where shops still open late morning. Step inside and you will find wooden hoops on stone shelves, botanical pieces in progress, and a workbench reserved for finishing. Classes run in small groups; commissions are taken by appointment; materials are chosen for hand-feel and colourfastness, with prices in euros listed plainly.

We favour classical techniques — satin, long-and-short, French knots, counted borders — taught with contemporary patience. Tools stay honest: sharp scissors, beeswax, good needles. Nothing here is meant to be rushed; the work stacks, layer by layer, until the cloth holds its own story.
